Fire Bad!

15-Aug-2015
Nanaimo, Vancouver Island BC

A few days since the last check in on the blog

We headed north and made a nice hike around Rosario Beach at Deception Pass State park.
Then up the road to Anacortes and dinner and a hotel for a little sprucing up.

From Anacortes Wa we took a ferry over to Orcas Island in the San Juan’s.
A bit of a foggy morning led to a hike around the lake
We decided to look for greener (bluer) pastures and headed back to Anacortes.
From there up the coast to Vancouver  City and a walk around Stanley Park with a trip through the Aquarium.
No issues with the border crossing as this time we carried current passports for both Miss Sciency and Captain Bob.

We headed toward the Sunshine Coast of mainland BC but the smoke from fires appeared to be worsening.
We made the split second decision to head back to Vancouver Island and landed end of day at Nanaimo.
Had a decent birthday dinner at a local Thai restaurant then called it a night.
Drinking coffee working on a plan.

Nothing like a pretty boat.

Notwithstanding all the work being done, the smelt remain elusive along our journey’s trail.
FYI, among the smelt cognoscenti, the surf smelt are the most desirable.
I just made that up.
Surf smelt are simply the tastiest of all smelt.
I made that up also, but perhaps it is true.
