My recent post regarding my favorite avian species (Megaceryle Alcion) needs some clarification.
Turns out, unlike most avian species, the female Belted Kinfisher is both larger and more colorful.
I’m pretty sure “Martin” I identified in the last photo was, in fact, Martina.
To set the record straight here’s a picture of a male (I think) we saw at Bowen Park in the city of Nanaimo BC.
We are drinking our lunch in a brewpub on our way up the coast
This is not a kinfisher
